Installation

This method is recommended but needs elevated permissions!

The recommended Option to extract Playnite to your ProgramFiles is a obvious choice and works very Good.

1. Locate your Downloads Folder
2. Right-Click the downloaded file and select "Run as Administrator"

   

   
   
3. Now you should see the Dialog below
   1. Insert the ProgramFiles path (should be the Path shown below)
      -> you can use the three dots on the right to do so if you don't know if this is the Correct Path
   2. Click "Extract" to start the Extraction process this can take some Minutes
4. If you still see the Extract Dialog from 7zip you need to click on "Close"
5. To run Playnite without Administration Privileges (RECOMMENDED) you will need to edit the Folder Permissions:

   1. Locate the Playnite Folder inside C:\Program Files\TheJoSamDevelopment

   2. Right-Click the Folder and select "Properties"
      
      
   3. Inside the Properties Window go to "Security" and click on "Edit..."
      
      
   4. Select the Group "Users" in the Top half and check "Full Control" in the bottom
      
      
   5. After checking the "Full Control" option click on "Apply" and "OK"
6. Now you can Close your Explorer and continue with the Guide

Now you have extracted the Playnite Installation in your ProgramFiles now if you cannot install it there or you want to have a bit more Control where the files are stored you can use the Extract to Custom Location section.

This Option is not Recommended and should only be used if ProgramFiles is not available!

This Option gives you a bit more control as you can decide where the Program Files for Playnite will reside and you don't need to have the Full Administration Access to your Machine.

1. Locate your Downloads Folder
2. Double Click the Playnite.exe file or Right-Click and select "Open"

   

   Your inserted FilePath must be the Final Folder as the CustomPath version of the Archive extracts Programm files directly

3. You should now see the Dialog below:
   1. Insert the your own FilePath in the "Extract to: " line
      -> you can use the three dots on the right to do so if you don't know the Path or have it copied
   2. Click "Extract" to start the Extraction process this can take some Minutes
4. If you still see the Extract Dialog from 7zip you need to click on "Close"

You have now extracted the Playnite installation to your own Path and have complete control over your files.

Now this option is a bit more straight forward but can depending on your setup be a bit more difficult.

1. Download Playnite from the official Homepage
2. Install Playnite with the Installer either Portable or as standard installation (RECOMMENDED)
   1. If you want to select a custom Path (RECOMMENDED) click on the small arrow next to "Options"
   2. Insert your Path or select "Browse..." to locate your Installation Path (Remember your Path for later use)
   3. Click Install and Wait until the Installer finishes and you are met with the First-Time Setup
      
      
3. In the First-Time Setup you skip every setting, these will be made later
   
4. Now take the Playnite Addon from us and save it somewhere
5. With Playnite open click on the Playnite Logo on top
   
   
6. In the Menu that opens go to "Library" and select "Restore Data Backup"
   
   
7. Now select the TheJoSam Addon zip file and click "Open" Playnite should now open a Selection Dialog
   
   
8. In the Dialog make sure you have everything checked and click on "Select"
   
   
9. Playnite should now restart and install the addon

After following these Steps you should have an Playnite Instance with all Basics done and can continue with the next guide.
You can skip the "What to do after Installation" Section as the Playnite Installer already does every step for you.
